Tank Welder with Per Diem and Travel Pay

​Phillips Tank & Structure (PTS) is a growing, team-oriented company located in Braddock, Pennsylvania. We have over 100 employees and specialize in designing, engineering, repairing and constructing above-ground metal storage tanks. We have active projects in various industries, such as petroleum, power, chemical and renewable fuels markets throughout the United States. Phillips Tank utilizes state-of-the-art 3D modeling software to produce detailed design and fabrication drawings that are the best in the industry.

Compensation

Hourly wage based upon experience, plus per diem (to cover meals and lodging). Normal hourly wage paid for work-related travel (no overtime or subsistence). Non-union. Non prevailing wage. Non-exempt (eligible for overtime). No PTO or paid holidays. Pay periods are weekly. Direct deposit is available.

Benefits

Medical, dental, and vision benefits are available on the first of the month following a 30-day probationary period. Phillips Tank pays 60% and employee pays 40% of medical benefit premiums. Employee pays 100% for vision and dental benefit premiums.

Shift

Project work schedules vary. However, a typical work shift is daylight (10 hours per day, 5 days per week).

Full-time employee (subject to project availability and work schedules)

Day to Day Duties

  • Performing arc and torch cutting and gouging.

  • Using generators, compressors, tuggers, blowers, grinders, and other power and air tools.

  • Welding plate with 7018, 7024 and 6010 stick, flux core, and submerged arc automatic machines (3o’clock and “goat”/tractor).

  • Using come-alongs, hydraulic jacks, hoists, air bags, winches, and other lifting equipment.

  • Using climbers, tank “buggies”, tank scaffolding, tank ladders, and other specialty equipment.

  • Performing vacuum box tests, oil tests, magnetic particle tests, and other non-destructive quality examinations.

  • Using gas monitors, fresh air kits, respirators, emergency rescue kits, and other safety equipment.

  • Operating forklifts, man lifts, boom lifts, cranes (including rigging and signaling), and other large lifting equipment.

  • Reading detailed erection and fabrication drawings.

  • Planning the sequence and methods of fitting up, welding, repairing, and constructing tanks.

  • Completing job safety analysis, safety audits, site-specific training, and other safety training.

 

Interested candidates must

  • Be at least 18-years old.

  • Have high school diploma or equivalent.

  • Be eligible to work in the United States.

  • Have no criminal convictions for dishonesty, sexual misconduct, violence, or acts of terrorism.

  • Have valid driver’s license and reliable, insured transportation.

  • Have good communication skills.

  • Be willing to travel anywhere at any time.

  • Have good attendance and show up to work on time every day.

  • Be willing to work at elevated heights and confined spaces.

  • Be willing to work in harsh weather conditions.

  • Have strong basic math and measuring skills.

  • Be willing to authorize background and motor vehicle driving record checks.

  • Be willing to submit to pre-hire, random, and post-incident drug and alcohol testing.

  • Pass 2G, 3G, and 4G plate welding tests with 7018 stick and flux core.

  • Have an eye for quality and strong attention to detail.

  • Be self-motivated and eager to learn and improve.

 

The following are preferred, but not required

  • Valid OSHA 10 Training.

  • Valid TWIC Card.
