Anaerobic Digester Covers

New or Retrofit Installation - Fixed or Floating

A welded anaerobic digester cover is the most cost-effective solution for your waste treatment needs! A digester cover will stop odors from escaping to the environment.

Anaerobic covers feature steel plates over a structural framework. During field assembly, steel roof plates and support beams are connected to the center ring and outside support ring. Fixed anaerobic digester covers are supported by the top of the tank wall with bearing plates. Floating digester covers are guided by vertical channels as the tank volume increases or decreases, and include a rim skirt inside the tank to contain the gas.

Covers are custom desgned for specific project loads such as dead, live, snow, vacuum, seismic, and wind load. Ports, manholes, nozzles, mixer support, and instrumentation mounts are provided as required. If needed, handrails and tie-off points are available for safe access to equipment.

Phillips Tank has a proven track record of installing anaerobic digester covers. Contact us today for a free consultation and to find the perfect solution for your waste treatment needs.

Engineering Considerations for Anaerobic Digester Covers
  • Load Calculations: The cover must be designed to withstand expected loads such as dead, live, snow, vacuum, seismic, and wind loads. This requires detailed calculations and modeling to ensure that the cover can handle the expected loads without failure.

  • Anchoring and restraint: A fixed cover is anchored to the top of the digester tank. A floating cover is guided by channels on the inside wall of the tank.

  • Seal Design: The cover must seal effectively to prevent odors and gas from escaping the digester.

  • Safe Access: The cover must be compliant with OSHA and other regulations to provide safe access for maintenance and inspection.

  • Equipment: The cover must have ports, manholes, and nozzles for inspection access, mixer support, and instrumentation mounts as required by the project. These should be designed and placed in a way that makes it safe for maintenance personnel to access the digester.
